This land was one of the original lands of Disneyland Park. An idea of Walt Disney himself, the land did not originally contain many attractions, but centered around wide open, wilderness lands which could be traversed by guests via stagecoach, pack mules and walking trails. The Mine Train Thru Nature's Wonderland opened there in 1961, consisting of a sedate train ride around various western landscape dioramas. Perhaps the most notorious Frontierland ex-attraction, the Mine Train closed in 1977. Above the fort stockade entrance to Frontierland are the flags of the original 13 colonies. Just ahead, specialty shops and entertainment, including the Golden Horseshoe, which features Billy Hill and the Hillbillies several times throughout the day. Nearby you may be able to meet Woody and Jessie from Toy Story 2. Also, don't miss the street performers Laughingstock Company throughout the day in front of the Golden Horseshoe. . Themed dining, such as the Rancho Del Zocalo, River Belle Terrace and the Stagedoor Cafe.. Attractions such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Frontierland Shootin' Exposition Arcade provide entertainment for all ages.

The river also offers rafts to Tom Sawyer's Island
, a chance for parents to rest while children explore the island's caves, tree house and numerous trails and activities. The Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes offer a chance to see the island and river from a different perspective.

Tom Sawyer's Island opened just one year after the park's opening in 1956, and the Columbia was added and dedicated in 1958.

Just click on one of the rides and attractions and explore that ride.

Guide to Frontierland

The guide to Frontierland is a short one. Out of all the lands in Disneyland, Frontierland is one of the calmest. People are normally spread out especially around Thunder Ranch and Big Rock Thunder Mountain. Again during shows the area can become crowded with people waiting for the 10:00 showing of Fantasmic but other than that its fine. The land really is not a good spot to see any of the shows that the resort offers except for of course there own stage show inside the Golden Horseshoe Stage. Thunder Mountain blocks most of the fireworks for the firework show, and you only get a side view of Fantasmic from the Frontierland side of the river. So our advice is to not see any night shows in the Frontierland area, you miss so much. But if you are looking for a place to store your stroller, this is a good area. Cast members are everywhere and there is lots of area to park your stroller(s).
